I would like to cordially invite you to attend the event I am hosting on ```Tempi Train Tragedy: Demanding Justice, Transparency, and Safety``, taking place on Wednesday 3rd of April, at 17.00, at the European Parliament, room SPINELLI 1G2.

The event focuses on issues related to the systemic failures and lapses in rail safety that led to the tragic Tempi rail accident in Greece. It`s been already more than a year since the tragic train collision in Greece`s Tempi area on the 28th February 2023, which resulted in 57 fatalities and with people still being missing.

One year later, crash experts and railway officials assert that little has been done to improve train safety in Greece, despite mounting evidence that system deficiencies allowed the accident to occur.

The event is taking place following the recent European Parliament resolution of 7 February 2024 on the rule of law and media freedom in Greece (2024/2502(RSP)), which underscores the imperative need for a comprehensive judicial investigation into the Tempi train tragedy, and the unanimous decision by PETI to forward Petition 0024/2024, submitted by Maria Karystianou on behalf of the `Group of persons affected by the train accident at Tempi` to the TRAN and LIBE Committees.

In this vein, we aim to raise awareness on apparent violations of EU legislation on railway safety and interoperability and to explore avenues for transparency, accountability and justice in the aftermath of such tragedies, recognizing that true healing cannot occur without justice.
